Ecocert ICO clients are mainly farmers or food processors that work in the organic sector.

POSITION
Title: Certification Officer
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: 40/week

Responsible to: Certification Manager

Skills and Abilities:

  •  Ability to travel, multi-task.
  •  Good oral and written communication skills.
  •  Highly organized, attentive to details, and self-motivated.
  •  Technical knowledge in crop, livestock, processing or related field.
  •  Knowledge of the USDA / National Organic Program preferred.
  •  Ability to research and obtain any needed technical information
  •  Investigation and observation skills, combined with courtesy and sharp mind.
  •  Ability to plan travel schedule and to respond to changes in the inspection schedule.
  •  Ability to write clear, complete, and precise reports.
  •  Valid driver license required.

Education:

  • A degree in agriculture or other relevant field of study is encouraged but not required.
  • Experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities:

  •  Travel regionally, within the US and abroad to conduct on-site inspections.
  •  Prepare reports from on-site inspections.
  •  Work with other inspectors and personnel to coordinate inspections.
  •  Respond to questions from applicants regarding the certification process and general
  • agricultural questions regarding organic farming, and handling or processing of organic products.
  •  Review initial applications for completeness and to ensure general compliance with standards.
  •  Prepare and give presentations on topics of organic agriculture and certification.
  •  Review information concerning certification on a regular basis to ensure up to date knowledge of the interpretation of standards and policies.
  •  Other duties upon request.

Title: Certification Assistant (Plainfield, Indiana Office)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: 40/week or part time

Responsible to: Certification Manager/Deputy General Manager

Skills and Abilities:

  •  Ability to travel, multi-task.
  •  Good oral and written communication skills.
  •  Highly organized, attentive to details, and self-motivated.
  •  Observation skills, combined with courtesy and sharp mind.
  •  Ability to write clear, complete, and precise.
  •  Ability to work as a team.
  •  Valid driver license required
  •  Knowledge of crop, livestock, food processing or related field encouraged

Education:

  •  University Agricultural related studies

Responsibilities:

  •  Data entry & administrative duties
  •  Assist clients regarding certification process and forms
  •  Work with inspectors and personnel in process
  •  Prepare and organize labels review
  •  Prepare and organize transactions document
  •  Assist with conferences/events (some travel may apply)
  •  Other duties upon request.
